Here are a few shots of us entering Baltimore on Thursday:
|
Francis Scott Key Bridge |
You will see Fort McHenry where the Americans
defended against the British and a shot of the buoy decorated with the Stars
and Stripes.
This is the location of the
British ship where Francis Scott Key was being held prisoner.
It was here he penned the Star Spangled
banner.

Barnes&Noble inside old power plant |
Friday we decided to investigate Baltimore.
Jennifer had done all the research and we took
the bus into town.
The fare machine was
broken so the bus driver said just sit down.
We walked around the inner harbour.
They have spent a lot of money to refurbish and have done a great
job.
Aside from some historical ships,
there is an aquarium, a science center, a Barnes & Noble built inside an old power plant and outside the Baltimore World Trade center there was a
monument to the Maryland people who lost their lives in 9/11.
One of the exhibits was some of the steel
girders from the world trade centre.
Getting
around the city is easy as there is a free bus with 3 – 4 routes. We rode the bus past Camden Yards and stopped to visit the grave of Edgar Allan Poe.

The Admiral and The Captain |
We had heard about the Lexington market so decided to go
there for crab cakes from the place voted the best for many years: Faidley’s. They were good but very rich. The balance of the market was so so.

Yesterday, Jennifer and I went to do some provisioning at
Harris Teeter.
Certainly takes longer to
shop when you do not know brands, etc.
There are a multitude of specials but only if you have a loyalty
card.
I now have one.
Thank you MFP for the use of your US address.

Maryland Cruise Terminal is just across from us |
Today (Sunday) is overcast .
We had more rain overnight and there is some gusty wind from the
NNW. A noisy night with the boat
bouncing against the dock. We will stay
here today and evaluate tomorrow to see if the bay has calmed down enough to
travel.
Finally. We demand more regular postings. What are inquiring minds to read when posts are delayed?
